Raw Brass 003

Snare Drum 003 is special both in appearance and construction. For the first time, it features custom handmade hoops, crafted entirely in-house.

The hoops are solid brass castings, poured into sand molds. Their shape is deliberately designed to echo the form of the lugs. Each hoop is completely handcrafted—from a hand-built mold to the final shaping using files and a steel brush.

This instrument is created through traditional sand casting, with the drum’s outer shell left in its raw, as-cast state — exactly as it emerged from the mold, preserving its organic character and unique texture. Apart from lathe work and minimal drilling, every element of this drum is entirely handcrafted. 

A defining feature of this drum is its integrally cast lugs, which eliminate the need for excessive drilling into the shell. This not only enhances structural integrity but also improves the drum’s acoustic performance, allowing for a richer, more resonant sound.

Every component of this instrument is made from solid brass, resulting in a distinctive tonal character, exceptional durability, and a truly luxurious aesthetic.

Thanks to its relatively thin shell and highly acoustic material, this snare drum is very responsive, performing effortlessly from ppp to fff. Its sound is gentle, soft, and full, with very few overtones, resulting in a focused and controlled character. The drum offers respectable volume, and while the rimshot is solid and articulate, it remains controlled rather than extreme.
