Matte Brass 002

The Matte Brass Snare is the second instrument to come out of my workshop and proudly carries the serial number 002.

The shell is made from solid cast brass, poured into sand molds. Apart from machining the inner surface and drilling the necessary holes, the drum is entirely handcrafted.

The shell surface reveals natural irregularities created during the casting process. Grooves, textures, and small air bubbles give the drum its distinctive character and ensure that no two pieces are ever the same.

The lugs are cast directly as part of the shell, eliminating the need for additional drilling and preserving the shell’s natural resonance by avoiding acoustic dampening from mounted hardware.

The exterior is sandblasted, resulting in a refined matte finish that highlights the beauty of the brass.

Snare Drum 002 is exceptionally heavy, with thick shell walls. Its sound is powerful, loud, and full-bodied, delivering a rich tonal presence. Thanks to its strong acoustic response, the rimshot is extreme and explosive.
